actually uses very little in the way of Ford parts. While it looks like
a hardtop coupe, it is actually a convertible body and has had the roof
from another Falcon welded on. All that remains of the steel body is the
roof, rear three-quarters and doors, while the rest are glass-fibre moulded
items in order to save weight. For the same reason, and for improved safety,
the glass has also made way for Lexan, reinforced plastic. The frame has
been built to the NHRA's (National Hot Rod Association) drag-racing standards
for the class of Super Gas, to which the cars run an index of 9.90 seconds
on the quarter-mile. The chassis is tubular steel and the front and rear
suspension uses lightweight coilover damper units with tubular locating
arms. The engine is based on a Ford 460 ci (7.5-litre) big-block, but
with a stroker crankshaft and a race-spec build.
