was successful, but rarely did it get modified. For one thing, its production
of just 37,344 models has made it far less easy to track one down, compared
to the later restyled 1968 model. However, early versions like this can
get more attention when given the right treatment. This one's torsion
bar front suspension has been lowered one spline, and the rear springs
have been reshaped for a 2- and 1.5-inch (50- and 38-mm) drop respectively.
The stock engine has long gone, and now in its place sits a 1978 Dodge
Ram truck 360 ci (5.9-litre), which has been upgraded with Mopar parts
(Plymouth, Dodge and Chrysler's performance arm), including a high-lift
camshaft, four-barrel carburettor and an Edelbrock. The wheels used are
17-inch (432 mm) Center Line billets, with 215/45s and 255/45 BF Goodrich
Comp ZR radials to maximize the handling ability.
