| | CHEVROLET C10 (1974) CAR HISTORYCar review on CHEVROLET C10For 1973 Chevrolet's trucks were redesigned for a smoother and more modern appearance. Off came the dated drip rails, and on went doors which opened into the roof, using curved side glass. The truck's waistline was a sculpted curve which promoted a wide, brutal feel, and with their large engine bays, the new ClOs soon became favourites for modification. This vehicle has been lowered with new springs at the front and blocks between the leaf springs and axle at the rear. More modern lightweight alloys plus radial tyres sit at each corner to further improve the handling. Under the hood there's now a 1970 454 ci (7.4-litre) Corvette big-block which uses high-flow heads, a high-lift camshaft and a free- flowing dual exhaust. It all helps to push out enough to get this pick-up down the quarter-mile in 15 seconds at over 90 mph (145 km/h).
